Call My (Wine) Bluff 2016 – Wednesday 17th February 2016
The Derouet Jameson Memorial Foundation hosted a wine-themed ‘Call My Bluff’ quiz at the the Vintners’ Hall on Wednesday 17th February 2016.
There were more than 50 people, nine teams, four rounds, and four winners! OK… Two of the winners were for last- and second-last place. But a prize is a prize! The main point is it was a fantastic night.
A full account of the night’s festivities and the winners/losers is available here: DJMF C M W B evening report.
Looking forward to the next event…
DJMF Now Boasts Three MWs!
It was with great pride that we watched John Pepper, a Derouet Jameson award winner, become a Master of Wine in 2013. In the three years since, no less than three of the students we’ve supported have now graduated as Masters of Wine. We are very proud of them all and are excited to see what’s next.
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015/16 Derouet Jameson Award. Andrea Schmidt (Oddbins) and Elizabeth Pearce (Majestic) were both identified as outstanding candidates by the Wine & Spirits Education Trust and were awarded scholarships by Grania Gregson (daughter of Tim Derouet) at the Guildhall on 18 January 2016.
The Masters of Wine announced the award in their latest newsletter (link):
“The Derouet-Jameson Memorial Foundation, which is one of the largest charitable sponsors of Wine Trade education in the country, will provide their application and first year study fees for the course starting in January 2017.”
We look forward to supporting them both through their studies.
